City of Duncan officials say residents owe more than $1 million in unpaid utility fees. Water disconnections resumed on Oct. 16.
Cut-offs had been suspended while the city replaced a number of faulty water meters with smart meters after residents complained about inaccurate bills. People have been reporting billing issues for about a year. While the meter replacement project was underway, Duncan residents continued to report issues regarding increased billing.
Now that the project is complete, the cut-offs will start again. City officials say a 10th of the city has overdue accounts.
To avoid a disconnect, residents have the option to pay half the bill and pay the rest in the following three months.
