The City of Duncan’s Emergency Management Team and the Duncan Fire Department came to the aid of the Town of Ryan, as the town faced issues with its water source. Ryan, along with other towns in Jefferson County, faced a water shortage, following a supply issue. According to a post on the Jefferson County Rural Water District No. 2 Facebook page, “We lost our secondary water source for today and possibly tomorrow. Please conserve and use water wisely. Please do not do any unnecessary watering, pool filling, or vehicle washing. Thank you for your understanding and help during this time.”
Although the Town of Ryan didn’t turn off water to the town, the water pressure was low, starting
toward the end of August. On Sept. 16, the water tower was turned off for about an hour and a
half to install a valve on the water tower. But between the low-pressure issue and the installation of the valve, water was delivered to the town.
According to a post on the City of Duncan’s Facebook page, “Our team drove down a Water Buffalo or a ‘portable water source’ that Emergency Management has as a resource for our community and took it to Ryan to assist them. We appreciate our team for helping in a time of need!”
