Karen Waldo and Wayne Watts exchanged wedding vows on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 west of
Duncan at the home of Steve and Debbie Fair.
The sunset ceremony was performed by Pastor Bryan Pain, First Baptist Church of Duncan.
Family and close friends of the couple gathered on Fair’s patio for the 7:00 pm ceremony not realizing
the purpose of the gathering. They shared a barbeque and smoked turkey dinner, and Watts made a
formal proposal to Waldo. She asked when and he replied that he would marry her ‘right now’ if
he could. She asked those in attendance if there was a preacher there and Pastor Pain spoke up.
The ceremony took place as the sun was setting; the children of the couple presented the rings and a wedding cake was served. The seemingly impromptu ceremony was a surprise to some.
The couple will reside in Duncan.
