Duncan volleyball ends season at state

By Derrick Miller

After a hard fight season, the Duncan High School Volleyball Team’s season has officially come to an end.

The Lady Demons headed to the state tournament in Moore to face off against Bishop McGuinness. The Duncan team lost its three sets against the Fighting Irish, concluding the successful run for the Lady Demons.

According to a post on the Duncan High Volleyball Facebook page, “They worked so very hard to accomplish things never before seen from Duncan Volleyball.
They will be etched in school history as the winningest (for now) and first team to ever host a regional tournament. They were tough and just a fun team to watch.

“You always tell your players that they don’t have to be best friends off the court but they all
have the same goal on the court, and this team really bought into each other. I truly believe this is a great era to be a Duncan student because the bonds the students have with each other goes beyond the field and court, regardless of outcomes.”

The Duncan team won the regional tournament Oct. 14, which secured the team’s entry into the
state tournament. Volleyball wasn’t the only Duncan team to go to a state tournament. The Duncan softball team won their initial game at state before losing an extremely close matchup in the semifinals.
