Bark in the Park to help fund Humane Society

By Blake Moren, CTCN correspondent

The 19th annual Bark in the Park fundraiser will bring together pets and owners for fun and fundraising from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 5, at Fuqua Park.
All of the funds raised will go towards the care of animals at the Stephens County Humane Society.
The event is going to start with the sixth annual wag walk at 9 a.m. The walk is a mile long. Those participating in the walk will be collecting pledges and whoever gets the most will earn a prize.
Those wanting to pre-register should go to to https://www.stephenscountyshelter.com/ or get registered in-person by 9 a.m. on the day of the event.
Pre-registration is $20 and in person registration costs $25. Those who register will get a Bark in the Park t-shirt.
Attractions include weenie dog races, a best trick contest, a pet costume contest, a best bark contest, and a owner-look alike contest. There will also be puppy yoga, wiener bobbing, food trucks, etc.
Theme for this year is “the road to my heart is paved with paw prints.” The goal is not only to raise public awareness but to also raise funds for the humane society.
Owners need to keep their dogs on a leash and the dogs also need to be licensed and vaccinated. If a female dog is in heat, they cannot attend. Dogs are also expected to be well-behaved.
There are also sponsorship opportunities currently available. These include $100 (t-shirt sponsors), $500 (Top Dog Sponsor), $1,000 (Leader of the Pack Sponsor) and $5,000 (Grand Champion Sponsor).
Shirts cost $12 and caps will be $20.
Those wanting to be either a sponsor or a vendor will need to call 580-641-0667 or email planetpw@aol.com.
