Weedn Family Dedicates Sculpture

By Blake Moren, CTCN Correspondent

On Nov. 16, the Weedn Family dedicated an outdoor sculpture depicting a family of buffalo to Duncan’s medical professionals. It is titled “Where the Buffalo Roam.” It was unveiled at the Weedn Hospital, located at 111 N. 10th St.

Opening the ceremony was Dr. Robert Weedn, who introduced Reverend Susan Lindsay. She gave a prayer of dedication. Following that, Robert introduced his wife Julie and the rest of his family  Robert then spoke about their family history.

Robert said the reason he wanted to become a doctor was because he “thought that the practice of medicine would be the perfect blend of science and service.”

Robert said his family wanted to show gratitude by providing a sculpture that would “enhance the downtown and Main Street area of Duncan along this historic trail and highway.”

Julie said that the buffalo were chosen because they lived in the area before their ancestors did.

“We hope that this wonderful art will forever be an expression of our appreciation, and tremendous gratitude for you and this marvelous community,” Julie said. “We are truly blessed.”
