Western Art Dedication

A Dedication of Outdoor Art will be held at 11 am, Saturday, November 16 at 111 North 10th Street in Duncan. The art is located on the lawn on the north side of the Professional Building, the Historical Weedn Hospital.

The art is a gift from Dr. Robert and Julie Weedn to the Duncan community.

“There was no sculpture art in the downtown area of Duncan, and we wanted this to show our appreciation to the Duncan and Stephens County community,” said Dr. Weedn.

The two-story brick building was established in the early 1920s by Dr. A.J. Weedn, Robert Weedn’s grandfather. Medical services were practiced in a house on the back of the lot prior to the building being built, according to Dr. Robert Weedn.

The Weedn family has been a significant part of the medical community in the area for over a hundred years and Robert and Julie Weedn feels like the three-piece western sculpture is a way to say thanks to the
community.
