Sunshine OHCE met Sept. 5 at the Stephens County Fairgrounds. Gina Flesher and Jane Mitchell were the hostesses. Jane Mitchell gave a devotional about reverencing God in all things as we live out our lives daily. The devotional suggested there should be no separation between the sacred and the secular in how we live our lives, always being mindful of God. There were 13 members present and Suzanne Buckley was welcomed as a new member.
The roll call question was “What is your ideal outdoor outing?” Many answers were given about the various ways in which we relate and are revived by nature. The lesson this month about nature has been deferred until next month.
Our congratulations go to our sister organization, Oak College for their First-Place placement in the OHCE Booth displays at the County Fair. It is always a delight to see the talent and creativity of OHCE members in both the group and individual entries at the fair. Since there are many talented people in our county, everyone is reminded that you have a year to plan entries for next year. Many first-time entrants earned blue ribbons for their entries this year so please consider entering the fair next year, there are many categories in which to enter.
Jerri Heilman, Healthy Living Committee Chairman reminded everyone that sock donations for Duncan Community Residence will continue through the County Council Meeting on Oct. 22. Other upcoming events are Barn Quilt Classes Oct. 18 and 19; community members are encouraged to attend and should call OSU EXT. at 580-255-0510 to sign up. Your spot is reserved upon payment of $40 for non-OHCE members and $30 for OHCE members. These are very popular classes so early sign up and payment is recommended. Leadership Training for Officers and Committee chairs and members will be Nov. 12 at the Technology Center.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 5th at 9:30 am at the Stephens County Fairgrounds. If you would like more information about the Sunshine Group or OHCE, call the OSU Ext. office: 580-255-0510. Prospective members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
