Stephens County Commissioners have lifted the burn ban on Monday. This was due to the increased rainfall this last weekend.
Todd Churchman, Commissioner, felt it was safe to lift the burn ban. Russell Morgan, District 3 Commissioner, agreed. but also said the county might get dry enough to warrant another burn ban, for the time being, Morgan made the motion to remove the ban.
The ban lift was unanimously approved by the board.
The Stephen County Emergency Management has urged the community to stay safe when they decide to burn. They are also urging the public to not leave a hot fire unattended, to keep water available.
For those wanting to report a burn day, they need to call 580-255-3131, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency number.
The commissioners’ next meeting will be Nov. 12 at the Stephens County Courthouse.
