Much hugging and hand shaking went on as the classmates of DHS ‘74 reuntied with old freinds as the Class of 1974 50th High School Reunion took place this last weekend.
About 60 of the 300 graduates reunited along with spouses and freinds to reacquaint themselves with former classmates and freinds after 5 decades since receiving their Duncan High School diplomas. There were a lot of “Do you remember when ….” conversation starters overheard as the class met on Friday, September 20 at Kochendorfers Craft Brewery for a relaxed time of visiting and fellowship.
Saturday, groups of classmates met to tour the updated high school facilities and then lunch and shopping downtown before heading to The Territory Golf Club for a poolside buffet, with entertainment by the current Duncan Highschool Show Choir.
“What a magical event,” posted Bob Diggs Brown on social media, “For just a few hours we were transported back to the carefree days of our youth. The smiling faces, some of which hadn’t been seen for decades, brought back memories of fellowship, adventures, and the hopes we had for our future. Recounting our glory days of making the drag, tee-peeing homes, pep rallies, football games, our favorite teachers… Having the opportunity to finally tell someone you had a crush on them in high school and wondering why you never expressed those feelings as you grew into maturity. An enchanted weekend.”
Diggs, as everyone knew him, now lives in Colorado and is an actor in movies, television and commercials, went on to say how he appreciated the ones who took the time to plan and execute the weekend event allowing them to reconnect with classmates and freinds.
The last big gathering was ten years ago, there was also talk of “I’ll see you in ten” as the group dispersed.
